I’m growing quite the collection of free printable gift tags lately!
I felt like it was time to design a simpler Christmas tag option without color for anyone who prefers to print in black and white or if you don’t own a color printer.
But don’t worry, these tags are still cute and classy with a variety of fun Christmas sentiments! They’ll work on just about any Christmas gift, lending the perfect personal touch to your gift wrap. Get the free printable tags below!

Free black and white Christmas gift tag printables
These free printable Christmas gift tags don’t require a lot of ink, which is great for printing multiple copies (great for Secret Santa, church groups, staff gifts, teacher gifts, & more). Of course, they also make cute gift tags for a more modern or minimalist gift wrap.
The single page PDF features 8 different designs. The tags say We Wish You a Merry Christmas, Joy, Believe, Be Merry, Let It Snow, Merry Christmas, and two tags simply say To/From with a blank spot to fill in names. The images are generic enough to fit lots of different styles: Christmas tree (with little polka dots or a buffalo check pattern), ornament, reindeer, presents, and snowflakes.
The FREE printable PDF at the end of the post contains all 8 tag designs. However, if there’s a particular design you’d like a full sheet of, you can purchase the full pdf set that contains the mixed sheet as well as individual sheets of each tag.
Gift ideas for these free printable Christmas tags
These black and white tags come with lots of options, perfect for all the Christmas gifts you’re giving this year. Here are a few gift ideas if you need some extra inspiration:
- Tie a tag to one of these adorable DIY paper craft reindeer treats for a super simple gift (perfect for classroom gifts or friends gifts).
- Make a button bouquet with red and green buttons to give a coworker (they make cute Christmas decor for a desk!).
- These painted pots are so adorable–and simpler than you might think thanks to step-by-step photos!
- Whip up a batch of your favorite homemade treats (I always go for caramels!) and place inside a DIY gingerbread house gift box.
And don’t forget to keep a sheet of these tags handy when wrapping gifts to go under your Christmas tree! (Though, I definitely recommend these cute color gift tags when wrapping gifts from Santa.)
How to use this set of printable gift tags
Note: These gift tags are for personal use only and may not be shared, sold, or distributed, in whole or in part. Please do not share this PDF file or the download link–they are for personal use only. Please share a link to this blog post instead!
Tips for printing: Make sure your printer settings are set to scale 100% and print at a high quality. For best results, print on white cardstock. A thick color paper or matte photo paper would work great too if your printer is compatible.
Once printed, you can use a paper trimmer or scissors to cut the tags out. Punch a hole at the top of the gift tags with a hole punch and tie to your gift with a ribbon of choice, baker’s twine, or yarn.
I love how these tags look against my kraft paper, but they’ll look great with almost any Christmas wrapping paper. (I think a black chalkboard paper would be super fun!)
Bonus: Want to get even more mileage out of these black and white Christmas gift tags? Use them for place cards and cupcake toppers by cutting out the printed design to fit, or mount them to a homemade Christmas card!
